SUMMARY:Propagation of Native Seeds
DESCRIPTION:Alexis Doshas\, Nursery Manager at Native Plant Trust’s Nasami Farm\, will teach us about growing native plants from seed and why the skill is relevant in a horticultural context. She will cover topics including germination requirements\, seed cleaning\, and seed-sowing techniques for many of our native species. Alexis will also discuss wild collection protocols and touch on best practices for early seedling success! \nAlexis has run a small organic gardening business; worked on restoration projects on Cape Cod\, and led field research on the effects and mitigation of chronic atmospheric deposition of native plants on heathland communities on Cape Cod. She is the nursery manager at Native Plant Trust’s Nasami Farm\, where thousands of native plants are grown from wild ecotype seed to ensure genetic diversity and resiliency. Alexis also teaches classes on propagation and native plant and soil ecology at Nasami Farm.
