SUMMARY:Japanese Inspired Gardens – Bringing Home the Essence
DESCRIPTION:Christie Dustman\, Principal\, Certified Landscape Designer\, APLD\, Massachusetts Certified Horticulturist (MCH) \nWhile the intensive labor required for a Japanese garden as seen in Japan is beyond most home gardeners\, there are elements of Japanese gardens that can translate into our New England gardens.  Christine will discuss the use of line (a design principle and visual construct)\, stone\, plants\, intentional focal points\, integration between house and garden\, and mood as they relate to how Japanese gardens can influence our local gardens.

DESCRIPTION:Tyler Akabane\, owner of The Mushroom Shop\, Somerville\, MA \nTyler Akabane has been supplying area restaurants with mushrooms for more than a decade.  He opened The Mushroom Shop in May 2022 and sells foraged and cultivated culinary mushrooms alongside books\, gifts and food products. Tyler is interested in and will discuss the cultural and social aspects of mushroom hunting\, what you can find locally in your yard woods\, and – as Tyler put it – “the whole wild world living in the soil”. He currently serves on the Executive Committee of the Boston Mycological Society.
