Their nursery offers beautiful display gardens with a wisteria covered pergola\, a koi pond\, waterfall and many very interesting and beautiful plant specimens—including a wide array of shade-loving plants. \nChuck and Sue will discuss the unique trees\, shrubs and perennials they work with daily and describe how to create a beautiful garden of any size that is suited to shade. \nChuck recently retired from Northeastern University where he developed an Arboretum at the main campus in Boston.  Chuck is also a member of the Horticultural Club of Boston\, as well as the American Hosta Society\, The New England Hosta Society\, The Rock Garden Club and American Conifer Society.  Being an avid photographer\, he has traveled to the Rio Negro in the Amazon 9 times\, Cuba twice\, as well as to Iceland and Sicily.

DESCRIPTION:Please join us for a festive journey to Blithewold Mansion in Bristol\, Rhode Island to celebrate the holidays! The cost of the trip includes tea and tour\, $56 per person. Plan on being on site for about 3 hours. The travel time to Bristol from Hingham is about 1 hour 15 minutes. SUMMARY:Propagation of Native Seeds
DESCRIPTION:Alexis Doshas\, Nursery Manager at Native Plant Trust’s Nasami Farm\, will teach us about growing native plants from seed and why the skill is relevant in a horticultural context. She will cover topics including germination requirements\, seed cleaning\, and seed-sowing techniques for many of our native species. Alexis will also discuss wild collection protocols and touch on best practices for early seedling success! \nAlexis has run a small organic gardening business; worked on restoration projects on Cape Cod\, and led field research on the effects and mitigation of chronic atmospheric deposition of native plants on heathland communities on Cape Cod. She is the nursery manager at Native Plant Trust’s Nasami Farm\, where thousands of native plants are grown from wild ecotype seed to ensure genetic diversity and resiliency. Alexis also teaches classes on propagation and native plant and soil ecology at Nasami Farm.

DESCRIPTION:Lisa Berkin\, owner\, Lisa Berkin Designs and Berkin Farms \nLisa\, a longtime Garden Club of Hingham member\, will show us the latest methods for successfully growing our own cutting gardens using organic practices and principles of succession planting. We will learn how these techniques help produce blooms all season and create an environment that attracts beneficial insects and a wider variety of birds. Lisa will also share tips and tricks for growing dahlias and storing\, dividing\, and maintaining tubers for year after year enjoyment. \nSince 2004\, Lisa Berkin Designs has spread the beauty of lush florals across Hingham and its surrounding areas through meticulously crafted container gardens and floral designs. \nLisa Berkin Designs has expanded into the sustainable\, low-till regenerative flower farming space at Berkin Farms in Hingham\, where beautiful specialty flowers and native Northeastern varieties are available three seasons per year.

DESCRIPTION:Mimi Santini-Ritt\, Level 14 Professor of Ikebana  \nWelcome spring by learning about the Japanese art of flower arranging\, Ikebana\, with Mimi Santini-Ritt. Mimi will design between five and seven inspiring arrangements while sharing her in-depth knowledge of Ikenobo (the oldest school of Japanese flower arranging) and Ikebana.  \nMimi Santini-Ritt has studied Ikenobo extensively in both the U.S. and in Japan for over 20 years. In February\, 2020 she completed the Kyoyoka–a course of studies at the Ikenobo Central Training Institute in Kyoto and is currently enrolled in Kyoyoka-B. Mimi teaches\, exhibits and demonstrates the art of Japanese flower arranging throughout the greater Boston area. She is a past president of the Ikenobo Ikebana Society of Boston. When not practicing Ikenobo\, Mimi can often be found at the Museum of Fine Arts\, where she does volunteer work in Egyptian Storage and Conservation.
