DESCRIPTION:Mimi Santini-Ritt\, Level 14 Professor of Ikebana  \nWelcome spring by learning about the Japanese art of flower arranging\, Ikebana\, with Mimi Santini-Ritt. Mimi will design between five and seven inspiring arrangements while sharing her in-depth knowledge of Ikenobo (the oldest school of Japanese flower arranging) and Ikebana.  \nMimi Santini-Ritt has studied Ikenobo extensively in both the U.S. and in Japan for over 20 years. In February\, 2020 she completed the Kyoyoka–a course of studies at the Ikenobo Central Training Institute in Kyoto and is currently enrolled in Kyoyoka-B. Mimi teaches\, exhibits and demonstrates the art of Japanese flower arranging throughout the greater Boston area. She is a past president of the Ikenobo Ikebana Society of Boston. When not practicing Ikenobo\, Mimi can often be found at the Museum of Fine Arts\, where she does volunteer work in Egyptian Storage and Conservation.

DESCRIPTION:Heritage Museum and Gardens’ Curator of Hydrangeas Mal Condon will share why his “LEGOs for Gardeners” system is essential for keeping hydrangeas happy during often too-dry summers. He will also discuss a range of winter protection strategies. Mal has held the positions of president and vice president of The Cape Cod Hydrangea Society. He and his wife are former co-owners of Hydrangea Farm Nursery on Nantucket.\nA lifelong gardener and trained engineer\, Mal brings a technical and investigative eye to the plant. ‘The Hydrangea Guy’ is a well-known presenter to gardening audiences in hydrangea-centric locations.

Jen will spend time specifically addressing the current prevalence of Beech tree disease\, an issue many are facing locally. \nA board-certified master arborist\, Jen is the owner of Radiant Leaf Consulting. She has spent years working with plants\, trees and shrubs in different capacities and shares her passion for horticulture through the training she provides to both homeowners and green industry professionals. Jen has worked with Safdie Architects and The Trustees’ public gardens\, and she has been a guest lecturer for the Massachusetts Horticultural Society\, the Arnold Arboretum\, and the International Society of Arboriculture. Radiant Leaf is celebrating just over ten years as a local\, Mass Certified women-owned business.
