SUMMARY:Christmas at Blithewold
DESCRIPTION:Please join us for a festive journey to Blithewold Mansion in Bristol\, Rhode Island to celebrate the holidays! Enjoy Christmas tea and tour the beautifully decorated rooms and gardens of an historic home. This year’s theme is “All About Augustine”. (Please see website link for more detail). The cost of the trip includes tea and tour\, $56 per person. Plan on being on site for about 3 hours. The travel time to Bristol from Hingham is about 1 hour 15 minutes. Carpools will depart Resurrection Church at 9:15 a.m. and the tour will begin at 11:00 a.m. followed by tea at 1:00 p.m.

SUMMARY:Shade Gardening
DESCRIPTION:With Sue DuBrava and Chuck Doughty\, owners of Cochato Nurseries\, horticulturists\, and rare and unique plant enthusiasts \nIn the early 1990’s Chuck Doughty and Sue DuBrava purchased five acres of land to develop a nursery.  Fast forward to today\, Cochato Nurseries has been written up in many gardening magazines and books as a “must-see” destination. Their nursery offers beautiful display gardens with a wisteria covered pergola\, a koi pond\, waterfall and many very interesting and beautiful plant specimens—including a wide array of shade-loving plants. \nChuck and Sue will discuss the unique trees\, shrubs and perennials they work with daily and describe how to create a beautiful garden of any size that is suited to shade. \nChuck recently retired from Northeastern University where he developed an Arboretum at the main campus in Boston.  Chuck is also a member of the Horticultural Club of Boston\, as well as the American Hosta Society\, The New England Hosta Society\, The Rock Garden Club and American Conifer Society.  Being an avid photographer\, he has traveled to the Rio Negro in the Amazon 9 times\, Cuba twice\, as well as to Iceland and Sicily.

DESCRIPTION:What is the first thing that catches your eye in a floral arrangement? Color\, of course! This workshop will explore different color schemes—analogous\, complementary\, and triadic–to illustrate how to combine colors to create harmonious combinations. Ruth Evans\, flower show judge and winner of numerous flower show awards\, will teach this class. The workshop includes instruction and floral materials to create your arrangement. \nCost: $55 until October 20; after that date the cost is $60\, so please sign up early.
